[W]ithout a doubt, the quintessential action/adventure film that, for me, ranks far and above any and all others is the 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark.  It was a movie that spoke to the man’s man – stoking his inner fires of adventure and discovery, evoking latent desires, longings, wants, and dreams – set in the late 1930s, an era rife with campaigns, exploits, and quests for a present-day era sadly lacking in all three.
